CELEBRATING SWEDISH MIDSOMMAR

17th June it was exactly 6 months since I arrived in Sweden. In that time I have managed to finish the first semester of my master program,  met like 100 people from different corners of the world, started to attend Swedish classes, read around 15 books in easy Swedish, kept practicing Bikram yoga and helping in the studio and last but not least got the Swedish person number.

It hasn´t been roses all the way  but that´s life, right? There were days when I felt homesick for both Slovakia and Vienna. The thing about living in a foreign country is that you don´t completely belong there and when you are finally home, you don´t belong there either. But that probably is fate of global citizens :) We take what suits us from different cultures.

At the weekend we celebrated the Swedish midsommar which is the longest day in Sweden and now we are slowly heading back to the dark times :( During the traditional midsommar celebrations girls wear flower crowns, folk dance around the midsommar pole and later they feast on herring, salmon, young potatoes, strawberry cakes, pies, meatballs etc..
....
